1. Market risk
Equity prices fluctuate due to economic conditions, geopolitical events, corporate actions, sector cycles and global capital flows. There is no assurance that any expected return will be achieved.
2. Leverage & derivatives risk
Futures and options employ leverage. Adverse movement of a small percentage in the underlying can wipe out the entire option premium or trigger margin calls in futures positions. Buyers of options can lose up to 100% of the premium; sellers/writers face theoretically unlimited loss.

Some securities — especially small-caps, illiquid F&O strikes and far-month contracts — may have wide bid-ask spreads, slippage, and difficulty exiting positions at desired prices.
4. Operational & technology risk
Order rejections, exchange halts, broker outages, internet failures and software bugs can prevent timely execution. AlphaQuest Research is not responsible for losses arising from such third-party failures.
5. SEBI study on F&O retail losses
Per SEBI's study released January 2023, ~9 out of 10 individual traders in the equity F&O segment incurred net losses over FY22. Retail participants are urged to size positions conservatively, use stop-losses and avoid over-leveraging.
